Isaac Reading

My co-worker sent home some books that were too young for her children. I sat them on the kitchen counter and got busy doing other things. Later, when I happen to glance into the kitchen.... Isaac should have been unloading the dishwasher and instead I found him sitting on the floor. He was sitting on the floor reading! I thought it was such a precious moment that I hurried and took a picture. He still doesn't know that I know he was reading instead of doing his dish job. Ha ha!
Love it!! Who can resist a new book?

Happy Halloween 2012

Happy Halloween 2012!

The kids were excited about Halloween. We didn't know what the neighborhood would be like because it is an established neighborhood but, it turned out really fun!
We went around the short block so that Dad could experience trick-or-treating with the family and then he went home to hand out candy. The neighbors were really generous around us. Our next door neighbors even had full-size candy bars for when the kids came by.
It took less than a half an hour to do the little block so we went around the other street to have some fun and get the full trick-or-treat experience. It's quite a large block. So, by the time we finished the block, the kids were loaded down with candy.
It was pretty warm and most of the neighbors were outside handing out candy and had fires to warm up to.

By the time we got home, the kids had a ton of candy. They dumped into my largest bowls. Reed and I filled my huge apothecary air-tight jar and put it in the storage room (you never know when you are going to want chocolate during a disaster or whenever! lol). Reed even was joking with me that we should use it for stocking stuffers....too funny, always thinking ahead!
We had a great Halloween even though we were too busy to even carve pumpkins this year! Oh well, we still had a good Halloween! Here's a picture of our neighbors pumpkin since we never got ours carved.

Monopoly

The kids were learning about money and how to use it. The kids had trouble at the grocery store knowing how much money to give the cashier to pay for their little candy so we did a game of Monopoly for Family Night to help with this money issue. Ha Ha...it was really, really fun and we played by all the rules. The one thing we really wanted to stress was that we were playing by the rules and we were going to be good sports. Be happy for whoever won. We know this world isn't always fair but, it doesn't mean you have to be a sore winner or loser. So, we had more in mind when we started this game of monopoly and the kids loved it!

Kaden had a homework assignment the week before about rolling dice and counting them together. So, this game helped with that too!
The winner of the game might have been Dad but, everyone was happy for him when he won and mom lost by a single roll. We all learned and had fun doing it!

Cool Park

We went to this awesome park that has a super shallow river flowing through it. The kids LOVED it and we have gone back since just to show Dad what a cool park this is.
Isaac loved playing on the grassy area because there was tons of places for boys to play with their imagination. I'm pretty sure their was an epic battle going on...

The kids were able to catch frogs in the pond area. Did I mention, Yeah, this is a cool park!
Brooklyn was into the river before I could get her and she got wet. The little girls in the ward were happy to help her have fun in the water. She loved it! I am just glad that it is SUPER shallow because I don't have to worry so much. I can keep an eye on her while she plays.
We had a great time at the park and have been back to play!
