Happy 24th of July!! Pioneer Day Celebration!!

The 24th of July was actually pretty fun even though the hubbies were gone to the Uintah's. They are gone for a few days back packing/horse riding 9 miles into a secluded lake. Fun, but just not for the kids. Mandy and I decided to make the most of it and got together for the holiday. The kids love being together and it was lots of fun. We swam in the back yard through the sprinklers and in the little pool we have. It was a hot day and the kids had popcycles then we got ready to go to my sisters for a barbecue. Mandy and Brody
Abbie and Kaidra (Good little buddies)
Kaden and all the kids were making funny faces when I was taking their pictures. They thought they were super funny and they did pull some great faces!
The kids eating their popcycles!! Nothing better on a hot day....swimming and popcycles! We had a barbecue at the Pace's and then we got to do sparklers and then watch the fireworks. The kids really loved doing fireworks. Kaidra was a little scared and only did one but, hey you have to start somewhere. Isaac, Abbie and Kaden did a ton of sparklers. They were writing their names and making shapes and then putting one in each hand and doing circles. Oh, to be a kid again!!
Happy 24th of July!! It was a great pioneer day celebration!!Cassy Final

Isaac starts First Grade

I know mom's say "I can't believe they are already growing up" but, I can really say that I know what they mean. I really can't believe that Isaac is old enough to be in first grade. Just crazy!! He was so excited to go the first day that it was hard to be sad because he wasn't apprehensive at all. He is excited to eat lunch and be at school longer. Isaac we love you so much and still can't believe how old you are already! Love ya!!

Pop's Concert

This year's Weber State Pop's Concert and fireworks were great!!
Every year Weber state puts on a really great concert of 1812 overture and 17 cannons. The fireworks are put to the orchestra's music. They do a really great job!! We've been before but, it has been a few years since we've been. I am glad that we went and maybe we can make it a tradition. We went early and had a great time. We took popcycles and GO FISH cards. The kids also had an airplane ride on dad's feet as he laid on the blanket. As you can see it was one of their favorite things to do while waiting for the fireworks. It did rain just alittle bit but, luckily it was only a sprinkle and only lasted a few minutes. We just huddled underneath the blanket for a little bit and then it was over and the kids played go fish. The fireworks were really good and the kids enjoyed watching them.

Abbie and her Daddy

I just thought I would share this......Abbie pushes a chair over next to Reed as he is cooking dinner today and climbs on top of the barstool.
She taps Reed on the shoulder and says, "Look Daddy, I am almost as tall as you!"
Reed say, "Yes you are growing big but, you have to quit growing, you have to stay my little girl."
Abbie -"Noooooo, I have to grow big so I can be a Mom too!"
Oh, melt my heart!!

Family Reunion

We just got back from a family reunion at Patsy and Larry's Cabin. We had a lot of fun and it was great to see everyone. We were able to ride 4-wheelers, play games, go frog hunting, target shooting, geo caching, and night rides. We stayed three days got really dirty by the time we went home, especially the kids. Something about dirt and rocks is really alluring. Oh well, they had a great time and that's all that matters. This is a picture of us on the 4-wheelers buzzing around. The kids loved riding the 4-wheelers. This is a staged picture because the kids had to wear helmets to ride. During the family meeting we took the small kids to go hunt for frogs. In Manor Lands, there is some really great ponds and the kids probably caught about twenty frogs. We only had to bring five home, YEAH!! Part of the activities was at the rifle range. Reed took his 22 that he learned to shoot with so that Isaac could shoot for the first time. He really liked it because with the ear protection on, it wasn't scary. Kaden got to shoot once but, I still think he's a little young. This is my team at the geo caching. We had to use the GPS unit to find Cache's that Patsy and Larry had put out and then it had clues to the next Cache. We had five different coordinants to find and we each took turns finding it. So fun! Uncle Mark, my dad, Becky, Reed, Me and the two youngest kids were in the HegerMill 10 Geocaching group. It was fun because I have never used a GPS unit before and it was fun to learn.
Isaac was able to ride Dallin's little motorcycle. It had training wheels on it. At first, he was really slow and hesitant on it but, after a few minutes I had to remind him to slow down. He had a blast and I'm sure it will be on a certain boy's Christmas list. Yeah! :(
Thanks Patsy and Larry for putting on a great reunion.Cassy Final

Heritage Days

Heritage Days in Syracuse was a lot of fun this year! We went to the parade that morning and got way too much candy. We were right at the front so, people were VERY generous with their candy, ect. Kaden wouldn't smile for any of my pictures but, Reed was a good sport and smiled for me anyways. Love you!
Mom, I thought you would like this float....it had a car that was spray painted....like a teenager would do to a beater car and had the sign, "future missionaries" on it filled with high schoolers in white whirts and ties. Following right behind that on their bikes were the area missionaries. I thought it was cute!! The missionaries passed out "pass along" cards and Abbie was so excited because she got a picture of the temple. "Look Mom...I got the TEMPLE!!" I think that was her favorite part of the parade..with the candy.
This is how much candy we had LEFT OVER after the kids had eaten some. I had the kids take little quart baggies thinking it would be enough space to let the kids have a few peices but, they kept filling it and then asking dad to put it in his pockets so they could put more in their bags. It was pretty funny! The old Model-T we saw at the car show belonged to our old neighbor in Washington Terrace. We hoped to get to see him but, just had to leave him a note saying Hi! He would always let the kids look at his Model-T and ride in his Ford pedal pushing airplane car. I have some fun pictures of the kids riding in that pedal pushing plane. Then we headed over to the Syracuse 6 Theatre because the Transformer cars were supposed to be there. The kids found bumblebee and were excited to get a picture with it. So fun to see!
Later in the day we went to a friend's barbecue and had yummy homemade corn dog's. I better get that recipe! Then headed over to the Jensen Park to watch the syracuse fireworks. The Denney's showed us a really neat place to watch the fireworks where it seemed like they were right over you! The kids loved it! It's one of the things I loved about summer was watching the fireworks after a great barbecue.Cassy Final
