Kansas City Farmer's Market

One saturday (one of the few we had off all together this summer) we wanted to do something cool. Reed got a text from KU about a cool farmer's market on Friday and Saturday.  We decided that would be a great thing for us to do and to get some fresh produce. Yum!
Some of the market is open year round. We found a booth with bins and bins of spices sold for $1 a scoop. We bought some kansas city steak spices. (We have since tried them and wishing we had splurged and spent $2 )
It was BUSY with activity! Their were street vendors and really great musicians everywhere (plus a few spanish bible raisers that were certain to bring us all to Jesus). It was eye opening for the kids, the kids were asking why would the spanish preachers would be yelling if it was for a Church. You are right kids, that's not how I would want my church. Definitely a learning experience.

We walked up to this farmers stand we couldn't believe the size of these carrots. They were HUGE and for only 50 cents a piece. We all got one and chomped away as we made our way through the market.

We ended up being a block away from River Market Antique's (that I went to in November when we came to interview for the KUmed). I wanted to go back, so we walked up the street to go to the antique store. The mural on the side was really cool to tell the kids about. It's a mural of Lewis and Clark Expedition. This time I crossed the street to get it all in one view. It really is cool to see!

We found a few treasures. The letter "S" was added to the alphabet wall. It was a mirrored letter "S" for $2. The world globe picture we took to text to my sister in Utah because she is looking for a globe at a good price. This was a cool globe but, not a killer price so we are still looking for one of those. (Some day, Adrienne I am going to find one in a flea market for a killer price and I will get it for you)
We had a great time at the farmer's market and besides the spices, our giant carrots (which we ate while meandering through the market) we found WHOLE flats of strawberries for $5. We bought two flats of strawberries and made our year supply of Strawberry Freezer Jam! YUMMY! It was really fun to experience a great Kansas City Farmer's Market! A great experience plus really good produce!

Cassy Final

  2. I'm not sure, but I might have grandma's old globe. I'll have to go out to the garage and see if I do. I think the sisters sent with me for school...but I don't need it I have one at school. Fun trip Cassy!
